Students will be introduced to object-oriented programming and elements of the Java language while learning to code their text-based RPG (roleplaying game). No programming experience is necessary, but familiarity with everyday tasks using a computer operating system (text-editing and understanding directory structures) and keyboarding is required. Extreme Robo-Games: Battlebot Olympics
Students will team up in groups of two to three to explore the LEGO® Mindstorms robotic system and specialized Technic™ engineering components. Each day, they will design and program robots to take on exciting Olympic-style challenges that test strength, speed, and creativity. Throughout the camp, students will be encouraged to re-engineer their creations, making them stronger, faster, and more innovative. Possible projects include a shot put launcher, flipping gymnast, and sumo-bot, along with other high-energy challenges that inspire teamwork and problem solving.
